Dr. William B. Hutchins, Jr., 72, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Bill had many passions in his life, the love for his three daughters, his three grandchildren, his practicing of dentistry, his favorite team, University of Tennessee VOLS, and the love of the outdoors which included the game of golf, hunting, and fishing.
He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. He attended Emory University where he earned his B.S. degree and University of Tennessee in Memphis where he earned his D.D.S. He was a member of the Honor Society and Alpha Tao Omega Fraternity. He was a Captain in the Air Force. He practiced dentistry for 45 years where he always strived to put his patients' needs first. He was a member of the Outdoorsman Club of Kingsport, Ridgefields Country Club, and a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. Surprise! He served as a Secret Santa in the Kingsport community for many years.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca McBride-Hutchins; his second wife, Geneva Stuart; his parents, W. Broughton Hutchins, Sr. and Christine Taylor Hutchins.
He is survived by his daughters, Blair Hutchins, Blake Hutchins (Brian) Eberbart, and Mandi Hutchins and her fiancé, Dan Smith; three grandchildren, William Addison Hutchins, Savannah Blake Smith, and Ethan Beckham Eberhart; siblings, George (Pam) Hutchins, Josie (Jon) Powers, Stephen (Robin) Hutchins, and Kitty (Fred) Howe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to family, friends, and former patients for their prayers, cards, and support.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.
