Earl E. Faulk, 96, of Bloomingdale Community, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center of an apparent heart attack. Earl was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was a charter member of the Bloomingdale Ruritan. He was a co-owner of Compton and Faulk Grocery in Bloomingdale and later he sold real estate. After retirement he loved fishing and camping on Douglas Lake. The joy of his life was his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Mattie Faulk; brothers, Glade Faulk and Warren Faulk; sisters, Pearl Hensley and Jessie Sampson; great-grandsons, Warren Boone and Richard Chase Oaks.
Earl is survived by his wife of 77 years, Myrl Salley Faulk of Kingsport; daughter, Joyce Hamilton and husband, Marlin of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Bobbi Oaks and husband, Todd of Kingsport and Roger Sutherland and wife, Sherry of Kingsport; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Oaks and fiancé, Parry Qualls, Seth Oaks, Elijah Sutherland and Maddie Sutherland; two sisters, Ida Harr of Blountville and Ella Lane and husband, H.W. of Blountville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Kingsley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Joe Barber and Rev. Brian Moore officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Stafford, John Allen Compton, Loy Faulk, Roger Sutherland, Todd Oaks, Mike Faulk, John Checkovich and Greg Faulk.
