Earl Hale, 90, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Bristol Hospice House on October 7, 2010. Earl was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Big Brothers Sunday School Class. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He loved his family. Earl was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Kingsport Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Earl retired from Eastman Chemical after 42 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Callie Hale, and brothers Roy Hale and Ober Hale.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Hale; sons, Jerry Hale and wife, Jackie, of Piney Flats, Mike Hale and wife, Kay, of Kingsport, and Chris Hale and wife, Sharlene, of Fairmount, GA; four grandchildren, Andy Hale, Lynn Krutak and husband Jon, Sam Hale and Matt Hale; five great-grandchildren, Jake and Caleb Krutak, Addison and Ayden Hale and Graciele Reigh Hale; and a brother, Carl Hale, of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Mitchell M. Whisnant and Rev. Tim Hale officiating.
Gravesides services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Earl's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Big Brothers Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
