Earl "Gene" McCracken 75 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon April 16, 2012 after an extended illness.
Born in Harlan, KY, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life and was a self-employed contractor.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene McCracken and Mary Belle Mays McCracken; and great grandson, Gabriel Odin Willis.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Larkins and husband, Sherrill; son, Wesley McCracken and wife, Reeca, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Jason Larkins, Gary Bellamy, Kristy Blevins, Sheena Larkins, April Kaiser and Nicole Larkins; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Jackie McCracken and wife, Glenna, Ft. Blackmore; niece, Jackie Blankenship and husband, Doug, Kingsport; nephews, David McCracken & wife, Rebecca, Mt. Carmel, Mark McCracken and wife, Lisa, Nickelsville; and several great nieces & great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Terry Rhoton, Brother Ray Bledsoe and Brother G. W. Willis officiating. Music will be provided by Midway Melody.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to thank Mountain States Hospice for their kindness, Reeca McCracken for her loving care at home and to Emily Egan who was instrumental in leading Gene to the Lord.
