Eddie W. Williams

Eddie W. Williams, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord at the home of his brother, Lloyd Williams, where he passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Born in Sullivan County, Tennessee on January 21, 1939, a son of the late Ralph W. and Pauline Carty Williams, he had resided in this area his entire life. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1993, following 28 years of service. He was a member of the Eagle Aries 3141.

He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated Dad, "Papaw", brother, friend and caregiver who loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Geneva Snapp.

Eddie is survived by his daughter, Holly Peterson and husband, Josh of Erwin, TN; 3 stepsons, Jon Thurston of Naples, Italy and his children, Jordan, Josh and Jillian, Scott Thurston of Kingsport, and his son, Alex, and Jeff Thurston of Providence, RI, and his daughter, Avery; 3 granddaughters, Keelie Hall, Blake Hall and Layla Peterson; brother, Lloyd Thomas Williams of Kingsport; sister, Carolyn Joann Hamilton of Pikeville, KY; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Pamela Duncan of Erwin, TN; and special pet, Toto.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating.

The inurnment will be held on Friday at 10:45 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.
