Edith Taylor Bishop, 96, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Wexford House. Born in Natural Tunnel, VA on March 20, 1917, a daughter of the late William P. and Lelia Taylor, she was the last surviving member of her family. Edith was a homemaker and a charter member of Kaylor's Baptist Church in Clinchport, VA. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandmaw, great-grandmaw and friend to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Sampson Bishop in 1986; sisters, Gladys DeBoard Gaines, Mae Kaylor, and Mary Alice Quillen; and brothers, Earl, Claude, Carl, Kelly, Ottis and Hobert Taylor.
She is survived by her son, Keith Bishop and wife, Imogene; grandchildren, Randy Bishop and wife, Jodi, Kevin Bishop and wife, Heather, and Jennifer Maggard and husband, Neal; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Haley, Hannah, Brenden and Hayden Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Lee DeBoard officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bishop, Jim Ball, Dodge Willis, Fred Bishop, Kent Taylor and Jack Taylor.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to the charity of one's choice.
