Edith Fannon Collier, 90, of Kingsport, died Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Wexford House.
She was born in Blackwater, Virginia, to Perry and Attie Fannon and had lived in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and Blackwater before moving to Kingsport in 2004. Edith attended Robinette Chapel Church in Big Stone and Osborne's Chapel in Blackwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Z, Collier, in 1996 and a son-in-law, PC Vaughn, in 1995.
Surviving are seven children and five sons-in-law, Nell and Bruce McDavid of Duffield, Geraldine "Gerry" and C. D. Murdock of Kingsport, Patty Vaughn of Kingsport, Brenda and Bill Byers of Kingsport, Debbie and John Caso of Johnson City, Kathy and Rick Fields of Bristol, and David Collier of Savannah, GA; ten grandchildren, Myra Bledsoe and husband Keith, Mark McDavid, Karla Hackworth and husband John, Tim Murdock, Jeff Murdock and wife Vickie, Kevin Murdock and wife Sarah, Michael Vaughn and wife Terri, Eric Vaughn and wife Christi, Ian Gilliam and wife Heather, Christian Gilliam and wife Whitney; several great-grandchildren, two great-great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Hill officiating. Family graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Fannon Cemetery in Blackwater, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
