Edith Combs Ferguson

Edith Combs Ferguson, 82, of Jonesborough, TN, died Monday, August 19, 2013, at her home. Born September 28, 1930 in Kingsport, TN, she was the daughter of the late W.J. and Amanda Bacon Combs. Edith graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She was a long time employee of Kings Department Store, Johnson City, TN, in the cosmetics department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Ferguson in 2004.

She is survived by her sister, June Whittamore and husband, Maurice of Johnson City, TN; nephew, Mark Whittamore and wife, Lesa of Johnson City, TN; niece, Karen Greene and husband, Jim of Leesburg, FL; great-niece, Amanda Parker of Princeton, NC; and many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry McMakin, Terry Joe McMakin, Harold White, David Grindstaff, Johnny Cochran, Jerry Hall, Jimmy Hartman and Billy Paul Bacon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church, 2517 Hwy 81 N, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
