Edith Marie Janeway Sharp, 91, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015 at The Wexford House following a lengthy illness. Born in Strawberry Plains, TN on February 27, 1923, a daughter of the late Dudley A. and Lockie Denton Janeway, she had resided in this area for the past 73 years. Edith was a homemaker and a long term member of Ross Campground United Methodist Church.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Wexford House.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Ray M. Sharp, January 16, 1971.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Patricia Dean and husband, Bobby, and Carolyn Evans and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Meredith Brown and husband, Richard; grandson, Chris Brown and wife, Tammy; great-grandchildren, Krista Cox and husband, Jared, Julia Brown, Haley Brown and Dustin Brown; great-great-granddaughter, Harper Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Rick Meade officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the Garden of the Last Supper in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending committal services are asked to meet at 10:45 am.
