Edith B. Shipley, 86, departed this world for her heavenly home on August 23, 2011.
She was born in Washington County on May 9, 1925 and lived most all of her life in Fall Branch. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and worked at Eastman Kodak for 17 years. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jim and Ella Lovell Brown; her husband of 59 years William "Billy" Shipley; sisters Grace Jones and Gladys Hays; brothers Will Brown and Glenn Brown.
Edith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch and also enjoyed attending Sullivan Baptist Church when her health allowed. She enjoyed cooking, visiting with her friends and working in her flower gardens. She was known for her beautiful roses. Pink roses were her favorite.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son Bill Shipley; adopted loving son Robert "Pete" Peterson; very devoted sister Lucille Cody, all of Fall Branch; special nephew Eddie Jones and wife Emily of Limestone; Gary Hays and wife Mary Lou of Limestone; sister-in-law Lawanda Brown of Fall Branch; special cousins The LeFevere Family of North Carolina many special friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25th from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Owens, Rev. Vic Wallace and Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. Friends may also visit at anytime at the home of Edith's sister, Lucille Cody, Fall Branch.
Burial will be at the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch on Friday, August 26th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Vic Wallace and Pastor Jeff Strong officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 12:45 to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers to be family and friends.
