Edmund Craig Carroll, of Kingsport, passed away on February 16, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on January 8, 1945, in Kingsport, TN, Edmund was a passionate photographer and a devoted race fan, with a particular love for drag racing.
His race-loving spirit led him to be actively involved in the racing community. He was a proud member of Gulley Performance, a renowned race team, where he not only supported the team but also sold parts to fellow race enthusiasts. His expertise and contributions to the racing world were recognized, and he was known to have traveled extensively throughout the eastern United States, fueling his passion for drag racing.
Apart from his racing endeavors, Edmund was a hardworking pipe fitter by profession. With his skilled hands and dedication to his craft, he contributed to various construction projects, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he worked in. His colleagues and friends remember him for his work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, Bayard Horton Carroll and Beulah Faye Darnell Carroll; uncle and aunt, Steve and Jenelle Carroll; and aunt, Marjorie Freeman.
He is survived by his cousins, Becky Barnett and husband Doug, Sandra Hardin, Madolyn Norton and husband James.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Randy Frye officiating.
Pallbearers will be Doug Barnett, Wes Hardin, Jeff Sturgill, Charlie Ward, David Ward, Scotty Lucas, Bill Broadwater, James Fisher.
