Edna Addington Heglar, 94, of Kingsport, died Tuesday morning, September 3, 2013, after a brief illness.
Born in Macy Springs, VA, raised in Hiltons, VA before moving to Kingsport, Edna was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She enjoyed volunteering with various charitable organizations and she especially liked delivering Meals on Wheels. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and retired from the State of Tennessee.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Heglar; son, Tony C. Heglar; two sisters, Sula Britts and Hesba Barnes; and one brother, Willis Addington.
She is survived by her son, Chris Heglar and wife, Cynthia, Gray; four grandchildren, Jacob, Chad, Caitlyn, Phillip; one sister, Helen Ellis, Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
The graveside service will be on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Spurgeon McCartt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E. Church St., Kingsport, TN 37660.
