Edna Dorothy Smith Jackson, of the Jearoldstown Community, went home to be with the Lord at 10:20 pm Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Durham-Hensley Nursing Home following an extended illness. Edna was born in Scott County, VA and had resided in the Jearoldstown Community for most of her life. She was a Christian, loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matilda and George Smith; sisters, Myrtle Sauls, Ethel Locke, an infant brother.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Russell Mack Jackson of the Jearoldstown Community; daughter, Mrs. Debbie Baker and husband, Steve of Bulls Gap, TN; son, Billy M. Jackson and wife, Cindy of Jearoldstown Community; two granddaughters, Jennifer Wach, Sara Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Rose Wach; brother-in-law, Curtis Sauls of Gray, TN; and her special lifelong friend, Janell Speers of Hiltons, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The service will begin at 8 pm with Chaplain Dave Snyder and Rev. Richard Long officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 pm on Thursday at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
