Edna Pearl Light, 77, of Kingsport, went home to be with Lord on July 1, 2009, after an extended illness. She was saved at the age of 15. She attended The Salvation Army for over 40 years where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Home League.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Cecil Light; daughter, Dorothy Charsha; grandson, Aaron Shaffer; son-in-law, Jerry Barnett, Sr.; parents, Chester and Rosie Gentry; and brothers, Everett, Elmer, and Bobby Gentry.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Stanley Elizabeth Sherfey, Ms. Barbara Barnett, Mrs. Robert Nancy Willis, and Mr. Michael Light; sisters, Don and Shirley Harris, Earl and Edith Feagins, Phyllis Gentry and Dallas and Linda Reed; brothers, Clyde Gentry, Kenneth and Carlos Gentry, and Johnny and Pam Gentry; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Holy Mountain Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chad Shaffer, Jerry Barnett, Jr., Brent Crawford, Seth Blevins, Dwayne Sexton, and Jacob Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Shaffer, Leland Holder, and Logan Barnett.
