Edna Nora Shaw Neeley, 101, of Kingsport, entered into her heavenly home early Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024, with her daughter, who was also her caregiver, by her side. Born in Kyles Ford, Tennessee on October 23, 1923, she moved to Kingsport as a teenager where she resided the remainder of her life. She retired from Kingsport Eastman in 1976 after 32 years of dedicated service.
Edna was blessed with a long life that she treasured to the fullest. As a born again Christian, loving mother and wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, she was a pillar of faith, kindness, hospitality, and love to all that knew her. Her determination for independence, zest for life, fun-loving nature, and the best biscuits and gravy around will always be cherished memories. While a longtime member of Browder's Chapel Baptist Church, her later years were spent at Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church, where her and her late husband were charter members. Her two greatest loves were serving her Lord and caring for her family. Having read her Bible front to back seven times throughout her life, she always shared her faith and words of encouragement with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian James and Della Anderson Shaw; the love of her life, Reverend Ben H. Neeley whom she spent 56 years alongside; her eight sisters and brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
Edna is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Carr, of Kingsport; granddaughters Kim (Mike) Hickman, and Rachel Wallen, both of Kingsport; grandson Chris (Nikki) Carr, of Cumming, Georgia; great grandson, Dylan Wallen; great granddaughters Reagan Hickman and Ansley Carr; along with many other special friends.
The family will receive friends and family from 12 to 1 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow in the chapel.
Burial will immediately follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Virginia.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would especially like to thank Caris Hospice Healthcare, Travis, Courtney, and Gina for their loving care in Edna's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church in Kingsport.
