Edna Alice McConnell Phillips, 90, Kingsport, passed away Saturday September 29, 2007.
Edna graduated from Nickelsville High School in 1936 and from Radford State Teachers College. She taught in Scott County, VA during the war and for 31 years in the Head Start Program in Kingsport. She also worked 10 years at Tennessee Eastman Co. in the C.E. and Research Labs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackson ?C.J.? Phillips, Jr. 2007; parents, William Sevier McConnell 1934 and Martha Frances ?Pattie Francisco McConnell 1923; brother, William Francis McConnell 1945; half-brother, James Edward Francisco, Sr. 1995; sisters-in-law, Ethel Francisco and Hazel McConnell; and brothers-in-law, J.C. Hartsock and Eugene Good.
Surviving are her son, Mark Lee Phillips; brother, Ubert Lee McConnell; sisters, Mary Lotus Good and Eliza Mae Hartsock; nieces and nephews, Daris Hartsock, Carolyn Good Irvin, William ?Pat? Good, Teresa Robinson, and Lee Ann McConnell.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Daris Hartsock, Lyle Wayne Hartsock, Richard Hartsock, Wayne Robinson, William Good, Patrick Good, Dan Irvin, James Francisco, and Bill Francisco.
