Edward Crawford, 78, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday afternoon October 20, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Washington County, TN on January 24, 1929, he was the son of the late Wilburn and Nancy Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He worked for many years at the Mason-Dixon Company and later retired from management at AFG Industries.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Crawford; and his brothers, Joe J.D. and Eugene Crawford.

Surviving are his son, Mark Crawford and wife, Dana, of Alpharetta, GA; grandsons, Caleb Crawford and Ben Crawford, both of Alpharetta, GA; brothers, Claude Crawford and Willard Crawford; sisters, Lorraine Blair, Cathrine Harr, Mary Lynn Gentry, and Lucille Kincheloe; sisters-in-law, Barbara Crawford, Edna Crawford, Bea Crawford, Lorene Crawford and Linda Mays; brothers-in-law, Allen English and Glenn Mays; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Greg Burton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Hamlett-Dobson Kingsport at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Childress, Mack Quillen, Lawrence Shoemaker, Arling Rhea, Joseph Solomon, M.D., Marty Taylor, Byron Elliott, Don Danna, and James R. Ramey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Edward Crawford to Meals on Wheels of Colonial Heights; P.O. Box 5752, Kingsport, TN 37663. Contributors are encouraged to request that Meals on Wheels notify the family of the contribution.
