Edward Hughes Hill, 84, of Kingsport, TN, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Holston Manor after a long illness.
He was born January 16, 1925 in Augusta, GA, the son of the late Hughes Hal Hill and Sadie Mims Hill.
Mr. Hill was a graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, SC where he served as a Cadet Captain. He served two years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hill received a Masters Degree in chemistry from Duke University in 1950 prior to beginning work at Tennessee Eastman Company. He retired from Eastman in 1987.
Mr. Hill was a longtime member of the Anglican Church of Good Shepherd in Abingdon, VA where he served as Senior Warden for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hill; son, Dr. Hal Hill and wife Liesa and their children, Scott and Audrey Jeanne of Chattanooga, TN; and daughter, Rosalind Cantrall and husband Jeff and their sons, Alex and Greg of Syracuse, NY.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 6, 2009 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, 540 Colonial Road SW, Abingdon, VA 24210.
