Edward Vogt

Edward "Ed" Michael Vogt passed away at Indian Path Hospital on June 19, 2015 at the age of 78 surrounded by family and friends. Ed was born in Steubenville, OH on June 7, 1937. He graduated from Catholic Central High school in Wintersville, OH in 1954 and went on to earn a BS in Meteorology from University of Texas, Victoria. He worked as High Grade Meteorologist with the National Weather Service with NOAA. Ed was a member of the United States Air Force with the 26th Weather Squadron, SAC retiring June of 1965, and then joining the Meteorology Department with the Civil Service until his retirement in 1994.

He enjoyed playing golf, cards, and spending time with his family. He was the National Weather Service Golf Association President for 10 years; a member of the Eagles Club in the 1970s; in the 1980s he was a member of the Moose Club; he was also a member of the Optimist Club, assisted with Optimist Little League Football; he was also an honorary member of Business and Professional Women of Kingsport for over 15 years.
He was a loving and caring Husband, Father, Zedo, and friend who will be greatly missed and cherished by all. He left an everlasting impression on everyone he met.

Ed is predeceased by his late wife of 49 years, Helen Vogt; son Michael Vogt; his mother, Daisy Vogt; and his father, Francis Vogt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Virginia Vogt. They were married on May 17, 2008.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Anita and spouse David Gulley of Kingsport; son, Donald and wife Karen H. Vogt of Nashville; Step-Daughter, Anita King and spouse Jason Atwood of Huntsville. Sisters: Loretta Mantos and husband Steve of OH; Mildred Kaufman of OH; and Donna Fourman and husband Roy of MO; brother, Francis "Jake" Vogt of Washington, D.C. He has 6 loving grandchildren (known as ZEDO to them): Joshua and wife Karen Q. Vogt of Seattle, Ronnie Vogt of Bellingham, Monique Gulley of Kingsport, Sabrina Gulley of Kingsport, Cameron Vogt of Nashville and Mallory Vogt of Nashville; also 3 Great-Grandchildren: Emaleigh Crawford, Lily Vogt, and Andrew Vogt; as well as MANY nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Deacon, John Hackett conducting the prayer of passage. Burial will follow at the East Tennessee Cemetery (Formally Tri-Cities Memory Gardens), 2630 Hwy 75, Blountville, TN 37617. Military honors by American Legion Posts #3/265.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Atwood, Doug Light, David Smith, Silas Frazier, Cameron Vogt, Ethan Frazier, Heith Frazier, Dustin Smith, and Nicholas Smith.
