Elbert Barron, Jr., 80, of Fall Branch went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 5, 2009, after a period of declining health.
He was born December 22, 1928 in Washington County and a lifelong resident of Washington County. Junior retired in 1992 from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation after 42 years of service.
Junior was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church where he faithfully served his Lord until his health no longer permitted. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.
Known for his heart of gold, he made an impact on everyone he met. He was always happy, never met a stranger, and always put everyone before himself. In his spare time, Junior repaired lawn mowers and loved working in his garden.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Elbert Eb and Lillie Mae Barron; one sister, Ruth Chase; and three brothers, Earl Barnes, J. W. Shorty Barnes, and Kenneth Barron.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Tootsie Barron of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and David McConnell of Lawrenceville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Violet Barron of Fall Branch; grandchildren, Joni Barron, Sean McConnell, and Scott McConnell all of Lawrenceville, GA; mother-in-law, Isabell Parton; sisters-in-law, Betty Ryans, Shirley Greene and husband Bobby, Goldie Barron, Verna Barnes, Priscilla Parton; several nieces, nephews; many close friends; and his little buddy, Sparky.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Allan Forbush and also the Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department, Washington County EMS, Station #9.
Receiving of friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.
Mr. Barron will lie in state from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with very special friend Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. Final resting place will be at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Sean McConnell, Doug Barron, Chris Barron, Tom Barnes, Cecil Barnes, Richard Chase, Jimmy Moody, Jerry Gibson, and Mitch Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott McConnell, Phillip Ryans, Bobby Garst, Jack Dockery, Kyle Huffman, and Tim Moody.
