Elburn G. Ferguson

Elburn G. Ferguson, 82, of Kingsport, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Elburn was a master electrician who wired his first house at the age of 12 and owned an electrical contracting company for 20 years in Dodge City, KS. He was a minister in Christian churches in western Kansas, including Englewood, Central Christian Church and Wilroads Garden Community in Dodge City.

He and his wife moved to Herndon, VA in 1988 where he worked as an electrician for Mobil Oil and the FDA. Elburn retired in 2004 at the age of 75 and moved to Kingsport in 2005 where he was active with Colonial Heights Christian Church, working in the food ministries program.

Elburn was preceded in death by his parents, Alta and Walter Ferguson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Ferguson; daughter, Mary K. Hawes and husband, Tim; two sons, Jeffrey G. Ferguson and wife, Cherie and David P. Ferguson and wife, Beth; five grandchildren, Treva, Christopher and Joel Ferguson, Margaret A. Houk and husband, Travis and Courtney Hawes; great-granddaughter, Carolyn Mackenzie Houk; sister, Phyllis Carlile and brother, Phillip Ferguson and wife, Annetta.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 2-3:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Paul Gardiner officiating.
