Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dale

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dale, 78, of Kingsport passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009.

She was born in Sherrill, Iowa and raised in Dubuque Iowa; attended St. Anthony's Grade School and St. Joseph's Academy in Dubuque, Iowa; and earned her RN Degree at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.

Betty met and married Jack J. Dale in Dubuque Thanksgiving Day in 1954. Together they raised three children in Dubuque, Iowa, White Fish Bay, Wisconsin, Kenosha, Wisconsin, West Bend, Wisconsin, and Huntington, West Virginia. They retired to Mary Esther, Florida, and returned to Kingsport in 2003.

Preceding her in death were her father, Raphael Andrew Dupont; niece, Karen Lange; sisters-in-law, Janet Dupont and Beryl Weigal.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Jack J. Dale of Kingsport; one daughter, Susan Schemmel and husband David of West Bend, Wisconsin; two sons, Steven O. Dale and wife Sheila of Charleston, West Virginia and Timothy Dupont Dale of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Andrew Schemmel and wife Tabethe of Dubuque, Iowa, Joseph Schemmel of West Bend, Wisconsin, Daniel Schemmel also of West Bend; her mother, Margaret Dupont of Dubuque, Iowa; two sisters, Shirley Bahl and husband Charles of Dubuque, Pat Lange and husband E. J. of Rockford, Illinois; and one brother, Donald Dupont of Palatine, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Dominic Catholic Church. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Charles Burton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
