Elizabeth "Liz" Ellis Maupin

Elizabeth (Liz) Ellis Maupin, 81, of Kingsport, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on April 12, 2017. Liz was born in Kingsport to Parnell and Mona Ellis on August 28, 1935. In 1953, she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, where she was a majorette and continued to be an avid fan. She attended ETSU, where she met her husband of 60 years. Liz spent some time working as a florist and taught preschool at First Baptist Church, but she was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. She enjoyed reading, cheering for her children at sporting events, and attending Calvary Baptist Church. Her strong Christian faith, unwavering even in declining health, made her an example of strength and hope.

In addition to her parents, Liz is preceded in death by her brothers, Evan Ellis and Ben Ellis; sister, Marie Ellis Hamrick and her husband George; brother-in-law, Ed Goode; and beloved aunt, Ruby Wassom.

She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her husband, Bob Maupin; children, Bobby Maupin and his wife Paula, Phil Maupin and his wife Carla, Lynn Schneider and her husband Jon, Chris Maupin and his wife Amy; siblings, Laura Jo Ellis Goode, Jim Ellis and his wife Gay, Doug Ellis and his wife Eve, Nancy Ellis Baldree and her husband Walter; sister-in-law, Sally Ellis; grandchildren, Stephanie Fisher, Jonathan Maupin and his wife Kathryn, William Maupin, Sarah Maupin, Hayley Schneider, Cameron Schneider, Cole Maupin, Cade Maupin, Whitley Maupin, Kory Schneider; great-grandchildren, Brycen Fisher, Quinlyn Maupin, Adriel Maupin, Adora Maupin, Teagan Maupin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport on Sunday, April 16, 2017 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 with Rev. Bryan Moore of Fordtown Baptist Church, officiating. A burial service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:00 am.
