Elizabeth Zubrod Shaw, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at her home.

Born in Louisville, KY, she was a resident of Kingsport for 61 years. She was a wonderful mother and loving wife with a terrific sense of humor. After moving to Kingsport, in 1950 she and her husband joined the New Comers Club. She also volunteered as a member of the Holston Valley Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player and became a Life Master in the tournament bridge world.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sally Ann Shaw, August 19, 1971; her parents, Arthur Bell Zubrod and Mary Sallman Zubrod of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Margaret "Zue" Johantgen of Louisville, KY, Mrs. Charles Kelley of Louisville, KY; and a brother Arthur Bell Zubrod, Jr. of Louisville, KY.

Survivors include her husband Mr. William S. Shaw of the home; daughter Mary Susan Sharpe and spouse, J.R. Sharpe, Jr. of Kingsport; son William Stark Shaw, Jr. of St. Pete Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Suzanne Sharpe of Johnson City, TN, Mark Andrew Sharpe and spouse April of Gray, TN and Sally Eileen Salmons and spouse, Mark of San Clemente, CA; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law Bonnie Zubrod of Prospect, KY; two nephews and four nieces.

The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm on Friday, March 11, 2011 at St. Dominic Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass with Father Mike Nolan and Father Les Schmidt officiating. Burial will be held at 1 pm on Saturday at Cave City Cemetery in Cave City, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 N John B Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN 37660.
