Elizabeth "Flap" Whittemore

Elizabeth Austin "Flap" Whittemore, 83, Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home under hospice care.

Born in Kingsport on May 8, 1930, a daughter of the late CM and Anna Mae Reed Austin, she had resided in this area her entire life.

She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Flap loved reading and being a caregiver.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William James "Jim" Whittemore; brothers, J.D. Austin and James J. Austin; and sister, Marie Edmunds.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Rochelle, Franklin, TN, and grandson, Daniel Rochelle, Greenville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating.

The graveside service will be on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends should meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
