Elsie Coomer Harris

Elsie C. Smith Harris, 84, Kingsport, died at 3 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, following a long illness. Born in Lee County, Virginia, she lived in Kingsport most of her life.

She was a member of the Salvation Army League of Mercy and Women's Home League.

Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Guy Smith and Joseph Herbert Harris, and a son, Charles Richard Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Charmie E. Lane, of Kingsport; sons Homer E. Smith and wife Kathy, Nashville, TN; Orville L. Buddy Smith and wife Brenda, Kingsport; and Thomas E. Smith, Kingsport, TN; 18 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Sunday evening at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and any time at the home of a son, Buddy Smith, 412 Kingsley Avenue in Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday evening with Captain Brian West officiating.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery.
