Elsie Salyers Hite

Elsie Salyers Hite, 86, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a member of West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Elsie was an employee of Oakwood Market in Colonial Heights. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hite, Sr.; parents, Jack and Ellen Salyers; and four brothers.

Elsie is survived by one daughter, Connie Fields and husband, Eddie; four sons, Fred Hite, Jr., and wife, Janet, John Hite and wife, Hester, Robert "Bob" Hite and wife, Marlene, and Jimmy Hite and wife, Jennifer "Jan"; six grandchildren, Jeannie Morgan and husband, Buddy, Becky Hite, Wayne Hite and wife, Jenelle, LeAnn Headrick and husband, Jeff, Erik Hite, and Joni Taylor and husband, Justin; two great-grandchildren, Eryka Hite and Jaxtin Taylor; seven step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Thigpen and Thelma Williams; one brother, Donnie Salyers and wife, Nobeleen; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wes Rankin and Pastor Mike Stout officiating.

The graveside service will follow at East Tennessee Cemetery in Blountville with the family serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 1205 Kendrick Creek Rd., Kingsport, TN 37663.
