Elsie Whitaker

Elsie Whitaker, 78, of Jonesborough, went to be with Jesus on Monday, September 12, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and attended Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Elsie was a wife, mother, mamaw, nanny, and a friend to many.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy Whitaker, Sr.; three daughters, Carrie Sykes and husband Wayne, Tina Holland and husband Jim, and Angie Hess and husband David; three sons, David Whitaker, Roy Whitaker, Jr, and Chris Sykes; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her special nutter butter, Carter; two sisters, Judy Taylor and Lorraine Cox; brother, Sam Miller; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, David and Margie.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Harold Morelock and Rev. Charlie Byrd officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Berthil Bowser, E.G. “Bubby” Whitaker, Isaac Whitaker, Carter Rutherford, Brandon Begley, and Phillip Allen. Honorary pallbearer will be Roy Whitaker, Jr.
