Emma Jean Haynes, 81, of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her home following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Charles Patton Haynes, Sr., her mother, Myrtle Ethel Mitchell Haynes; one brother, Charles Patton Haynes, Jr.; two sisters, Peggy Bryan Grimm and Nancy Lee Shelton; two nephews, Barry Lee Shelton and infant, Charles Scott Haynes.

She is survived by one sister, Carol S. Haynes Grim; stepmother, Catherine Fletcher Haynes; one stepsister, Jennifer Fletcher Meade; one sister-in-law, Claudia Davidson Haynes; three brothers-in-law, John J. Grimm, Samuel Radford Shelton, Jr., and Charles Wayne Grim; six nephews, Lynn Haynes, Greg Grimm, Tony Grimm, Rick Shelton, Brett Shelton, and Kirby Billings; three nieces, Patricia Haynes Darnell, Leah Shelton Booker, and Tonya Marie Shelton; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are expressed to Patty Darnell and Ann Shelton Neal for their professional guidance. Jean would have wished to recognize all her amazing, loving friends who so richly blessed her life because they were loved as she loved her family. Jean would say to all from John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, and my peace I give to you... "

Visitation will be at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN on Tuesday, November 20th from 12-2:00pm. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. A brief burial service will follow at around 2:45pm at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations by sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or your charity of choice.
