Emmett (Buddy) Lee Sims, 71, Blountville, gained his angel wings and went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a loving, caring, dedicated husband, daddy, papaw and friend. Buddy was a truck driver most of his life and retired from Harris Trucking after 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Sims; sister and husband, Virginia and Paul Barker; brother-in-law, Rev. Marvin Winkle; and nephew, Joel Sims.
Emmett is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances Imogene Sims; daughter, Patricia-Teresa (Scott) Baker; sons, Robbie (Rosie) Sims, and Brian (Jaylynn) Sims; sisters, Jean (Bill) Osborne, Marie Winkle, Pauline (Johnny) Mullins, Kay (Nathan) Jackson, and Janie (Joseph) Rogers; brothers, Johnny (Lee) Sims, Stanley (Margaret) Sims, Billy Joe Sims, and Darrell (Dory) Sims; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:30-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Buddy will be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund set up in his name c/o Brian Sims, 498 Cole Hollow Road, Blountville, TN 37617.
