Emogene Marie Marsh

Kingsport - Emogene Marsh, 93, was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday (November 15, 2015) at 12:50 a.m. She was born and raised in the Alley Valley section of Scott County, VA but spent her adult life in the Ross Camp Ground Community of Hawkins County near the North Fork of the Holston River. After school, she moved to Tennessee where she started working as a baby sitter and at S. H. Kress and Co. Later she worked at Tennessee Eastman Company in the Yarn Department. Emogene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was a member of Ross Camp Ground United Methodist Church and loved God with all her heart, soul, and mind.

Family was a priority and she looked forward to spending time with us whether it be at home, sharing meals, shopping, day trips, or visiting family and friends near and far. She especially enjoyed trips to the beach with her children and grandchildren. Her wisdom, energy and enjoyment of life will be sadly missed by all of her family but she lives on in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Marsh; parents, William McKinley and Julia Craft Elliott; sister, Kathleen Lane; and brothers, Fletcher C., Robert E., and Richard C. Elliott.

Emogene is survived by four daughters, Brenda (and Jerry) Jessee of Weber City, Sandra (and John) Mayo, Karen (and Jerry) Salyer and Judy Kiser of Kingsport; one son, John Randall Marsh of Church Hill; five grandchildren, Greg (and Melissa) Jessee, Halley Harper, Aimee (and Eric) Morelock, John Kiser, and Megan (and Peden) Templeton; four great-grandchildren, Kyra, Chloe, Ryan, and Trey; sister, Geraldine Gillenwater; brothers, James M. (and Ona) Elliott, and Donald L. (and Janet) Elliott; sister-in-law, Gladys Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Karl Berndt officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Ross Camp Ground Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Jessee, Halley Harper, John Kiser, Jerry Salyer, Ronnie Hammonds, Johnny Clark and John Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Hammonds, Terry Hammonds, and Perry Crocker.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Camp Ground UMC, c/o Janie Kincheloe, 107 Ivy Lane, Gray, TN 37615.
