Emogene Mildred Cox Sneed, 80, passed away January 29, 2010, at Holston Manor following an extended illness.
She was born on November 6, 1929, to the late Orgie and Ida King Cox. She retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center as a registered nurse after 44 years of service. Mrs. Sneed was of the Baptist faith and a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Who's Who of American Nurses.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sneed was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Sneed; brothers, Estel Cox, Dana Cox, and Clark Cox; and sister, Wanda Cox Ford.
She is survived by sons, Jerry L. Sneed and wife Judy of Kingsport, Rex Ronald Sneed and wife Debbie of Kingsport, Scott Donald Sneed and wife Sherie of Unicoi; eight grandchildren; sister, Mary McAmis and husband Jerry of Kingsport; brother, Sam Cox and wife Maye of Blountville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park and will be officiated by Rev. Chris Alford.
The family would like to extend a very special and heart-felt thank you to the staff of the 300 wing at Holston Manor for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Suite 1500; Johnson City, TN 37604; or to the American Red Cross, 501 S. Wilcox Drive; Kingsport, TN 37660.
