EMORY ?BUD? HARVEY
Emory Ras ?Bud? Harvey, 64, of Greeneville passed away Saturday December 9, 2006 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
Born in Coeburn, VA, he had resided in Kingsport in his younger years, and had resided in Greeneville for the past 20 years. Bud was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served 8 years in Special Forces. He retired from J. P. Stevens and enjoyed camping and fishing.
Bud was a member of Way of Life Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John Dee and Edna Harvey; two sisters, Nell Lawson and Jane Burkhart; and brother, Thurman Harvey.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Harvey; two daughters, Donna Laney and Edith Knapp and husband Richard; one son, Emory Ras ?Buddy? Harvey Jr. and wife, Carolyn; six grandchildren, Denver Knapp and wife Jamie, Austin Knapp, Emily Knapp, Allen Laney, Michelle Laney, and James Harvey; mother-in-law, Edith Forbes; several nieces, nephews, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, James, Bobby, and Charlie Valentine, Tommy McNutt, Eva and Luke McNutt, Julie Putman, Amy Harvey, Ray Knapp, and Donnie Knapp.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport or any time at 3233 Fairbanks Street, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Johnny Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Pallbearers will be Austin Knapp, Denver Knapp, Ralph Taylor, Bobby Valentine, Allen Laney, and David Laney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Knapp, Luke McNutt, Tommy McNutt, Donnie Knapp, and James Valentine.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport is serving the Harvey family.
