Enoch T. "E.T." Shipley, 85, of Kingsport, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Asbury Center at Baysmont.
A graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, he served in the Army during World War II in Europe and received the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Shipley retired from the former Tennessee Eastman Company in 1985, after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Instrument Society of America, and served as President during 1980-81.
Mr. Shipley was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the adult choir for many years.
He enjoyed Western films and spectator sports, and was an avid supporter of the University of Tennessee Volunteers sports teams.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Ida Mae Shipley.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Blankenbecler Shipley; a daughter, Myra Weber and her husband, Kirk of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Sarah Weber McKee and her husband, Jason of Louisville, Kentucky, and Alice Marie Weber of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2008 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Counts officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Sermon on the Mount Garden.
