Ernie Hobbs, 83, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022. Born in Scott County, he has lived in Kingsport all of his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired after 30 plus years of service from Eastman Kodak. Ernie had a passion for antique classic cars, both building them from the ground up and traveling across the country in his 1940 Ford convertible.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clarice Hobbs; parents, Glenn and Virgie Hobbs; and sister, Jean Henderson.
Ernie is survived by his sons, Michael Hobbs and wife Natalie and Andy and wife Jenny; two grandchildren, Kennedy and Kaden Hobbs; sister, Louise Hobbs; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Russ Pearson officiating. Military Honors by American Legion Posts 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Kaden Hobbs, Luke Jarnigan, Jack Johnson, Keener Mallicote, Bill Collins, Todd Collins, and Daniel Davis.
