Ervin Thurman Cunningham, 77, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
The son of the late J. M. and Nina Belle Pippin Cunningham, he retired from the Sullivan County School System. Mr. Cunningham was a member of Gunnings Baptist Church where he served as an usher and greeter and was also a very faithful worker in the Seedline Ministries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nina Jean Cunningham; a son, Lynn Cunningham; and two brothers, L. V. and Harold Cunningham.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catherine Baker Cunningham of the home; two daughters, Mary Ruth Cunningham and Teresa Rutherford of the home; a daughter-in-law, Janice Cunningham; a grandson, Dakota Rutherford and a special girl, Chelsey Doss; two sisters, Ruth Roller and Edith Patterson, both of Kingsport; one brother, Gaylord Cunningham, Blountville; two sisters-in-law, Judy Cunningham and Doris Cunningham; several nieces and nephews; and two aunts, Rosie Cantor, Kingsport and Hazel Cunningham, Abingdon, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Ferguson officiating. Music will be provided by the Gunnings Baptist Church Choir.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Haven Booher, Fred Walters, Danny Owens, Gary Winegar, Tim Cole, and Tim Pullen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gunnings Baptist Church and the Seedline Ministries.
