Ervin Owens, 74, of Mount Carmel, died Easter Sunday morning April 24, 2011, at his home after an extended illness.
Ervin grew up in Glade Springs, VA and lived in Mount Carmel for the past ten years. He married Edna Widner, June 29, 1959. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic. Ervin attended Boones Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jay Owens and two sisters, Lillie Honaker and Sue Widner.
Ervin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Jean Owens, of Mount Carmel; daughters Robin Mozach and husband Robert of Kingsport, Regina Sims and husband Timothy, of Pigeon Forge, and Donna Mitchell, of Kingsport; sons Michael Owens, of Jonesborough and Randy Owens, of Mount Carmel; eight grandchildren: Christina Ricker, Michelle Jaynes and husband James, Michael J. Bruner, Jason Harmon and wife Nakita, Josh Littleton and wife Lisa, Brandon Owens and wife Jessica, Shane Mitchell and Jesse Mozack; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Owens, of Marion, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Travis Lusk officiating.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough, TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Owens, Randy Owens, Jason Harmon, Josh Littleton, Brandon Owens, Shane Mitchell, Timothy Sims, and Leon Davis.
