Ethal Curl Rasmussen, 92, of Kingsport, died on Friday, May 4th, at Preston Place Assisted Living. Ethal was born on March 4, 1920 to Albert William and Daisy Hilderbrandt Curl in Manteno, IL. She graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Kankakee, IL in 1941 and worked in various positions in hospitals, private duty, and doctor's offices until her retirement in 1983. Ethal participated in her churches in Illinois and Tennessee with ceramics, quilting, sewing, knitting and missions kits. She loved roses, camping and canoeing and missed Illinois and her friends there.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Victor Rasmussen; seven brothers, William Vernon Curl, Duane Henry Curl, Wilbert Jack Lester Curl, Leroy Edward Curl, Delbert Norris Curl, Gilbert Morris Curl, Russell Albert Curl; and one sister, Ada Curl Finger.
Ethal is survived by her son, Gregory T. Rasmussen and wife, Susan, and granddaughter, Ann L. Rasmussen of Portland, OR.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsport, with Pastor Steve Counts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Gathering Room at the church.
