Ethel B. Hale, 94, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at her home in Kingsport surrounded by her family.

She was born in Ogallala, NE, and raised on a ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills. She moved to Bluff City, TN in 1945 and later lived in Lebanon, VA from 1964 until she moved to Kingsport in 1999. Ethel had many jobs throughout her life, including being a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kingsport.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edith Starkey; first husband, Glen Bowling; second husband, Noel Hale; step-son, Kelly Hale, and three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Berniece Wolfe and husband, Tom, Kingsport; step-son, Noel Hale, Jr., and wife, Joanna, Pensacola, FL; step-daughter-in-law, Donna Hale, Lebanon, VA; brother, Joe Starkey, Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Daisy Richardson, Lincoln, NE, Faye Brown, Grand Island, NE; and Patsy Kershaw, Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Brenda Falin and Karen Broadwater and Amedisys Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 pm.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bluff City, TN.
