While surrounded by her family and a band of angels, Eunice ?Pat? Cartwright peacefully stepped from the bonds of her earthly life into the welcoming arms of her heavenly Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 3, 2007.
Born in War, West Virginia, she made her home in Kingsport, and worked at Borden Mill for many years. Pat graduated from Virginia Dept. of Education, Division of Vocational Education and retired from J. C. Penney Catalog Department.
Pat, a longtime member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church and former choir member, had served as Junior Department Superintendent, Sunday School Secretary, and up until her illness, served as a Church Hostess.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Marion and Lilly Belle Lambert; four sisters, Olgie Crabtree, Frances Beavers, Edith Fuller, and Hattie Jones; her first husband, Ernest B. Wallen, Sr.; and second husband, Paul A. Cartwright.
Surviving are her sons, E. B. Wallen, Jr. and wife, Becky of Blountville, and Tim Cartwright and wife, Vicky of Kingsport; grandchildren, Mark Wallen , Amanda Cartwright, and Rachel Cartwright; brother, Hamilton Lambert of Horse Pen, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Pastor Joe W. Byrd will officiate at the 7 p.m. funeral service in the church sanctuary. Special music will be provided by T. Vernon McCray and the Bloomingdale Baptist Church Choir.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Blountville. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Wheelock, John Paul Jones, Richard Leach, Rondall Jeno, James Garretson, and Deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
