Eva Mae Woods, 85, of Mount Carmel, received the call from Heaven on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 3:47 a.m. while surrounded by her family. There she joins her Lord and Savior; her husband and lifelong companion, John H. Woods; her parents, Spencer and Sabre Osborne; three sisters, Teal Bishop, Tennessee Wheatley, and Mary Kathern White; niece, Shirley Estes; grandchild, Lindsey Woods; great-granddaughter, Angel Woods; and a host of other loved ones.
Eva Mae was well known for her many talents; cooking and canning were her specialty. She loved to garden, quilt, yard sales, and enjoyed children. She was a mother to all who knew her. The last several years Mamaw spent bedridden, but praised the Lord through gospel songs and TV ministry. The tears, clapping and raising of her hands with a smile, let us all know she was in the arms of Jesus. What a comfort!
Missing her presence will be a large family and many friends; two daughters, Betty Woods Brickey, Charlotte Ratliff and husband David; honored daughter, Sylvia Bromley and husband Floyd; special niece, Marilyn Arnold; two sons, John Alan Woods and wife Edna, and Doug Woods and wife Fran; granddaughters, Kimberly Rains and husband Bob, Tammy Hicks and husband Larry, Nikki Clark and husband Randy, Cheyenne Williams, Amy Woods, and Stefanie Weakley and husband Ben; grandsons, Michael Woods and wife Jennifer, James Woods and wife Donna, David Ratliff and wife Pauline, Phillip Woods and wife Nicole, and Jeremy Woods; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
A celebration of Eva Mae s life will be at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport with Rev. Raymond Hammonds and Rev. Mike Malone officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Special appreciation goes to Betty Jean and Charlotte, who found it an honor and privilege to care for their Mother; also her caregivers, Angie Crawford and Amanda Collins; to Dr. Ginn and his staff; and to the Trauma Unit at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Most of all, we want to thank our Lord for putting Mamaw in our lives. She has been a blessing to all of us.
