Evelyn Mary Maples

Evelyn Mary Maples, 90, Kingsport, an angel Mom on earth and now an angel with God, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her home. Evelyn retired from J.P. Stevens after 18 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Maples; son, Henry Lee Maples; grandson, Tim L. Maples; parents, Rev. George and Mattie Roberts; brothers, Calvin, L.B. and Morris Roberts; and sisters, Ollie Richardson, Sarah Horton, Edna Johnson, Lillie Peters, Ina Duff and Martha Kate Livesay.

Survivors include her son, Earnest L. Maples and wife, Evelyn J. Maples of Blountville, TN; daughters, Cora Roark and husband, Bob who she had lived with for the last 5 ½ years, and Hazel Blackburn of Kingsport; son-in-law, Billy G. Peters; daughter-in-law, Brenda S. Maples; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many friends at Maple Oaks Apartments.

Special thanks goes to the Amedisys Hospice Care, especially Stacie Robinson, Dr. David Franzus, her Dr. for so many years, and his staff, for their love and care for our Mom! Also a special thanks for Gina Robinson, Hazel Blackburn and Cora for their care for Mom, during this trying time!

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dewey Shaeffer officiating. The burial will follow in Gunnings Cemetery with Rev. Larry Bledsoe officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Peters, Bob Roark, Junior Stewart, Earl William, Ray Byrd and Michael Robinson.
