Ewing Robert Livesay

Ewing Robert Livesay, 86, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2014, surrounded by family. A native of Blackwater, VA he was the son of the late Charles W. and Alpha Roberts Livesay. Ewing was a devout Christian, and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Ewing was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He retired from AFG Industries after many years. Ewing was an avid participant in the local, state and national Senior Olympics and won many medals. He was a member of Kingsport's Senior Citizens and Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Livesay.

Ewing is survived by his sons, David Livesay and wife, Pat of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Steve Livesay of Kingsport, and John Livesay and wife, Pam of Church Hill; and grandson, James Penn of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Patsy Stacy, Sarah Rice and Brittany Moore; the staff of Church Hill Life Care; and the Johnson City VA staff, especially the ICU.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Baker officiating.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Pleasant View Baptist Church, men's Sunday school class.
