Ezra Lewis Laughlin, 81, of Kingsport, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011, at Bristol Wellmont Hospice House.
He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who will be greatly missed and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for his love of golfing, hunting, and fishing. Ezra was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War era as an aircraft mechanic. He was founder of Tri-City Business Machines in Kingsport and retired from there in 1992. He was a member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church in Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie Osborne Laughlin and Thomas Henry Laughlin, Sr.; his brothers, Joe Laughlin, Henry Laughlin, and John Laughlin; and a sister, Emogene Laughlin Cox Durham in August, 2011.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Ramsey Laughlin; daughters Phyllis Laughlin Gibson and husband, Chris, Kingsport, Janet Laughlin Chambers and husband, Tom, Nashville, and Debbie Laughlin Carpenter, Mount Carmel; grandchildren Jeremy Gibson, Atlanta, GA, Aaron Gibson, Kingsport, Wesley & Allison Carpenter, Mount Carmel, and their dad, Johnny Carpenter, Church Hill; Katie & Luke Keesee, Nashville; his sister, Edna Greene and husband, Ray, of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Hamlett-Dobson in Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Stallard and the Rev. Dr. Ira Howard officiating.
Entombment services will be Monday, December 19th at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors provided by the American Legion Posts 3/265. Those wishing to go in procession should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Katie Keesee, Allison Carpenter, Johnny Carpenter, Wesley Carpenter, Tom Chambers, Chris Gibson, Aaron Gibson, Jeremy Gibson, Luke Keesee, and Tommy Laughlin.
