Fannie Baber Howle

Fannie Baber Howle passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Wexford House, Kingsport, TN. She was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on March 4, 1918 to William Patterson Baber and Frances Barker Baber who died when she was five years old. A widowed aunt, Mary John Voss, raised her and her siblings. Fannie moved to Burlington, NC in 1940 and resided there for over 65 years before moving to Kingsport to be near her sons. She was a homemaker for many years and was a very good cook and a caring person. After her sons were older she managed a cafeteria for several years. Fannie was active in her church and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt; and brothers, Homer Baber, Roosevelt Baber and Thomas Baber; and sisters, Dora Lee Stephens, Janet Baber and Grace Durand.

Fannie is survived by her husband of over 76 years, Alton Howle; two sons, William Howle and wife, Betty, and Michael Howle and wife, Liza; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington, NC. A private family graveside service will be held the following day.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.

The family wishes to thank Mountain States Hospice and Wexford House for their kind and loving care.
