Fannie Liford, 85, Kingsport, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2010.
She was born in Kingsport and grew up in Hawkins County. Fannie was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and began her working career at Tennessee Eastman Company in the secretarial pool before transferring to Holston Defense Corporation. She was the first woman to retire from Holston Defense Corporation with 40 plus years service.
Fannie had been very active in Contact Concern and devoted over 2000 volunteer hours and was also the Registrar of Morning Star Cemetery. She was of strong Christian faith.
Preceding her in death were her brother, William K. Livesay and granddaughter, Grace Anne Blumenthal.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia L. Blumenthal of Washington, DC; one son, William "Bill" F. Liford and wife Kris of Jonesborough; three granddaughters, Christine T. Blumenthal, Cherilyn R. Blumenthal, and Patricia M. Robl; one great-granddaughter, Katherine Mae Robl; two nieces, Pamela Wooten and Robin White; and one nephew, Rusty Livesay.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Tim Wooten officiating.
Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.
