Fannie Redwine Smith, 94, of Kingsport, TN died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at home after an extended illness.
Born in Clinchport, VA, Fannie was the daughter of the late Charles and Nettie Redwine. She and her husband resided in Florida for many years where they managed a chain of jewelry stores. After retiring to Kingsport, Fannie worked at Copeland Office Equipment.
To know Fannie and have her as your friend was something very special and a rare privilege. Her love for everyone was evident and you did not need to know her to remember her. Fannie was unforgettable. She loved God, family, and her country and opened her home, which was located on the parade route, on the Fourth of July to all who might need a shady place to rest or a glass of lemonade.
Fannie was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George W. Smith; four sisters, Ruth Cooper, Blanche Reed, Dorothy Ball, and Imogene Campbell.
Surviving are two sisters, Nell Hess of Kingsport and Mabel Rogers of Clinchport, VA; several nieces and nephews; her best friend and caregiver, Ray Long of Kingsport; and longtime friend and neighbor, Doris Snodgrass.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Schuler and Rev. Thomas R. Benton officiating.
Interment will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.
Pallbearers will be Doug Cooper, Ray Long, David Rogers, and Jim Hall.
