Father Gregory Boisvert, 83, Kingsport died early Saturday morning December 16, 2006 at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, he grew up in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and had resided in East Tennessee for the last 30 years. Father Boisvert was ordained as a Catholic priest on June 24, 1951 in Worcester, Massachusetts and was a member of the Assumptionists.

Prior to coming to East Tennessee, he was a teacher for 25 years, teaching physics and religion. During his time in East Tennessee, he had served as associate pastor or pastor at St. Dominic Church in Kingsport, TN; St. Patrick Church in Morristown, TN; Our Lady of Fatima Church in Alcoa, TN; St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fairfield Glade, TN; Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Knoxville, TN; St. Bridget Church in Dayton, TN; St. Mary Church in Oak Ridge, TN; and the Norris-Lafollette Missions.

He was Director of Ongoing Formation for Deacons of the Diocese of Knoxville and a team priest for Catholic Marriage Encounter.

His parents, Emile and Corinne Boisvert preceded him in death.

Father Boisvert is survived by several cousins.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church. A Prayer Service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz officiating.

Burial will follow at a later date in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.
