Faustine Ivanhoe White, 97, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 23, 1910, in the Lone Star community. Faustine graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School where he played football and was in the band. He was a charter member of Mafair United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and sang in the choir for 51 years. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company after 39 years of service.
Faustine loved playing golf, gardening, woodworking, and?most of all?his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude White; daughter, Sharon White Hurst; brother Paul White; sisters Pauline Jones, and Claralee Glenn; brothers-in-law, Mack Jones and Cam King; grandson, David Hurst, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Maxine Lady White; daughter, Sheila Postell and husband, James; grandson, Jeff Postell and wife, Cathy; granddaughter, Michele Postell Neely and husband, John; granddaughter, Christine Hurst Evington and husband, Greg; great-grandchildren, Michaela Postell, Marissa Postell, Maura Postell, Mark Witt, Erika Neely, Brooks Evington, Caleb Evington, Kendall Evington; sister, Maxine King; sister-in-law, Virginia White; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mafair United Methodist Church, and any time at the home. A celebration of life will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Glenn, Jim White, Harvey Herron, Jeff Postell, John Neely, and Greg Evington. Honorary pallbearers will be John King, Cam King, Jr., Winston Jones, and David Hurst.
The family is especially grateful to special caregivers Lorraine Vermillion, Glenda Pickle, Rhonda Sands, and Melissa Scanlan.
