Faye H. Addington, 85, Kingsport, gracefully passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
She was born and spent most of her youth in Scott and Wise Counties of Virginia and later moved to the Tri-Cities area where she spent her adult life. Faye was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Johnson City Women's Club, Daughters of the Confederacy, and Scott County Historical Association, and was also an avid genealogist.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Darrell Addington; parents, Lee and Ona Hicks; two brothers, Joe Hicks, Roy "Bobo" Hicks; one sister, Allie Hutchinson; and one son-in-law, Larry A. Fleming.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Fleming of Knoxville; two sons Robert "Bob" Addington, Sr. and wife Janice of Kingsport, Gary Addington and wife Peggy of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Betsy Gray and husband Aarron, Julie Slautterback and husband John, Mindy Thomas and husband Chad, Steven Addington and wife Libby, Dan Street, Mike Moore, Sherri Hillman, Shane Smith and wife Melanie, Robert Addington, Jr. and wife Megan; thirteen great-grandchildren, Rachel, Zöe, ReElle, Justin, Casey, Randi, Steven, Jordan, Katie, Abbie, Mackenzie, Drew, and Sydney; two sisters, Nell Whetsel of Kingsport, Louise McDevitt and husband Jim of Bristol, VA; three brothers, Emory Hicks and wife Geneva of Kingsport, Rex Hicks, and Ezra Hicks and wife Margie all of Bristol, TN; a special nephew, Joe Hicks, Jr. of Bristol, TN; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins and Bobby McClinick officiating.
Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City. Pallbearers will be John Slautterback, Chad Thomas, Aarron Gray, Dan Street, Mike Moore, Shane Smith, Robert Addington, Jr., and Steven Addington.
